66 on first-class debut topped off a superb season for Jonathan Bushnell as the former Academy graduate impressed on all fronts.
His first-class debut came against Worcestershire at Seat Unique Riverside as the 21-year-old shared a fourth wicket stand of 134 with fellow debutant Rachin Ravindra.
Crediting New Zealand test batter Rachin Ravindra for his successful debut as Bushnell batted alongside the 23-year-old for 144 minuets which included 9 fours in 129 balls.
The 21-year-old made 4 first-class appearances scoring 216 runs from 7 innings – rounding 2022 off with a healthy average of 44.
He went onto play 5 times in white ball cricket with 3 appearances in the Royal London one-day cup and a further twice in the Vitality Blast with top scores of 25 in both formats.
His 2nd team performances saw him win 2nd team player of the year as he scored 580 runs at an average of 74.30. His 580 runs included two half-centuries and two hundreds with a top score of 187 against Lancashire at Northern, additionally taking 8 wickets in the Championship.
Bushnell has been involved with the Durham set up since he was 9 years old and has played throughout the age group system.
The right-hander started his club career at Durham City and has represented Durham at each age group from Under 11s up to Under 19s, signing his Academy deal in 2019 and first professional deal at the conclusion of the 2022 season.
