With the North East Premier League and North Yorkshire South Durham Leagues underway, Durham Cricket will continue to provide weekly updates when Durham players are in action.
Scott Borthwick scored a fine 128 from 107 balls as Hartlepool drew with Marton in the NYSD Premier Division. Hartlepool lost the toss and were inserted and lost a wicket early which brought Borthwick to the crease. The Durham left-hander led the way as Hartlepool posted 271/5 from their 50 overs. In reply Marton closed on 209/9 as the Memorial Drive outfit held on for a draw.
62 from Robbie Bowman helped Tynemouth to a 128-run win over Newcastle at Preston Avenue. Tynemouth won the toss and elected to bat with Matthew Brown top scoring with 91 from just 49 balls which included 11 fours and three sixes. Bowman’s 62 from 61 balls with two fours and three sixes helped Tynemouth post 295 all out in 45 overs. The Academy keeper was also in action behind the stumps with two catches and a stumping, as Newcastle were bowled out for 167. Bishworjit Konthoujam the pick of the bowlers with 4/15 from 6.2 overs.
Despite a defeat for Newcastle, Daniel Hogg top scored with the bat as he posted 58 from 46 balls with four fours and four sixes, batting at six.
Elsewhere, James Minto and Luke Symington contributed for Norton as they fell to a seven-wicket defeat to Middlesbrough at Acklam Park. Middleburgh won the toss and elected to bat, with Minto scoring 32 and Symington 39. Norton were bowled out for 182 inside 42 overs – with Middlesbrough making light work of the chase, reaching 183 for the loss of three wickets in 37.2 overs.
