Daniel Hogg was in the runs on Friday night scoring 37 from 16 balls in Newcastle’s 40-run T20 victory over Newcastle City at The Playing Fields. Hogg struck five fours and two maximums as Newcastle posted 127/6 before limiting their counterparts to 87/7.
Hogg continued his batting form into the red-ball game on Saturday where he made 39 from 46 balls as Newcastle declared on 262/5 in 55 overs against Shotley Bridge at Jesmond.
He then picked up one wicket as the visitors were dismissed for 229 to claim a 33-run victory.
George Drissell was in the runs and wickets for South Northumberland in their draw with Burnopfield. Drissell put on 117 with Sol Bell – who made 150, scoring 46 from 64 balls with five fours and one six as South North posted 298/6 declared at Front Street.
Drissell went on to lead the way with the ball claiming figures of 3/30 in 12 overs with four maidens, but Burnopfield batted out their 56 overs to hold on for a draw with three wickets in hand scoring 203.
James Minto and Scott Borthwick helped Hartlepool to victory over Stokesley. Minto claimed 2/38 in in eight overs with two maidens as the hosts made 226/9 in their 50 overs at Broughton Road.
Borthwick then made 41 from 48 balls including eight fours while Minto added 28 from 31 with five fours and a six as the visitors edged over the line with three wickets to spare.
