George Drissell led South Northumberland to an opening victory over Shotley Bridge with four wickets at Roseworth Terrace. Batting first, the hosts posted 252/8 from 52 overs.
Haydon Mustard made 43 from 56 balls with three fours and two sixes for the visitors but Drissell’s 4/19 from 7.1 overs saw the hosts claim 24 points.
Luke Symington and James Minto were in the runs for Hartlepool as they made 232/9 in a tight-run defeat at Park Drive. Symington made 108 with 13 fours and two sixes, reaching three figures from 124 balls, whilst Minto supported with a patient 59 featuring seven boundaries.
Minto claimed three wickets with the ball but Marske prevailed by five wickets with one over remaining.
Luke Robinson starred with the ball as Philadelphia recorded a dramatic opening 3-run victory over Willington. Philadelphia were 196 all out at Manor Road, with Robinson leading the response for the visitors with figures of 4/21 in 10 overs as the hosts made 193.
Robbie Bowman top scored with 84 for Burnmoor as they beat Benwell Hill by five wickets at NBMS Denton Bank. After taking a catch and a stumping to help restrict Benwell Hill to 172/9, Bowman struck 13 boundaries and one maximum in his 61-ball knock.
Shafiqullah Ghafari took 4/65 for Richmondshire in their 38-run defeat to Saltburn. Ghafari’s four wickets came from 15 overs as visitors Saltburn were bowled out for 173.
Zac Mawdsley and Charlie Harmison were in the wickets as Ashington defeated Chester-le-Street by 47 runs at Ropery Lane. Mawdsley picked up figures of 3/45 in his 10-over spell while Harmison added an unbeaten 26 as Ashington closed on 215/8 in 50 overs.
Harmison then dismissed both openers in Chester-le-Street’s response claiming figures of 2/32 while Mawdsley made a run-a-ball 19 as the hosts were bowled out for 168.
Jim Twiddy struck his first half-century in the North East Premier League in Felling’s 83-run win over Newcastle. Batting at three in Jesmond, Twiddy made 63 from 85 balls with six fours as Felling made 302/5 in 50 overs.
Teddy Minto played an important role with bat and ball as Norton beat Normanby Hall by three wickets at Station Road. Minto claimed 4/67 with the ball, bowling the visitors out for 221 before getting Norton over the line with an unbeaten 30.
