Paul Coughlin shone with the bat, striking 140 from just 98 balls as Hetton Lyons beat Shotley Bridge by 135 runs at Easington Lane. Batting at four, Coughlin arrived at the crease with the hosts 31/2 in the eighth over. He led the Lyons to 298/8 in 45 overs with a rapid innings of 140 featuring 16 fours and four sixes.
Coughlin then bowled five overs as the hosts recorded a comprehensive victory, dismissing Shotley Bridge for 163 inside 32 overs.
Stanley McAlindon and Faizan Ghumman impressed with the bat for Tynemouth in their two wicket reverse against Chester-le-Street. Ghumman made 30 in Chester-le-Street, helping the visiting side to 69 for two before McAlindon struck four fours in his 76-ball half-century as the Preston Avenue based-side scored 198/5 in 45 overs.
