Durham Cricket’s Visually Impaired team draw against Lancashire in their season opener

Durham Cricket Visually Impaired team had their first Northern League game of the season against Lancashire at Darlington Cricket Club.

Lancashire won the toss putting Durham into bat. Durham losing three early wickets saw an early wobble but 50s from Harry Hood, Jack Moffat and Chris Ashburn ensured batting out the maximum 28 overs reaching 221 for 4 wickets. The wickets fell to James Douglas (4 runs), Alex Mackie (0 Runs) and Dominic James (22).

After the interval, Lancashire knew they needed 222 from 20 overs to win the game.

Durham took an early wicket of Sheraz Chohan a terrific catch from Darren Cook of the bowling of Dominic James. Darren Cook would take the other three Durham wickets, bowling out Mahmood Zahid for 34, Zain Hashmi for 7 and Amjad Khan for 2. Lancashire would end their 20 overs with the bat on 176/4.

Excellent efforts from everyone involved. It was a great competitive game played in good spirits. We look forward to the reverse fixture later in the summer.
