Drissell five-for leads South North to victory, more runs for Daniel Hogg: League Roundup

With the North East Premier League and North Yorkshire South Durham Leagues underway, Durham Cricket will continue to provide weekly updates when Durham players are in action.

George Drissell’s five-wicket haul led South Northumberland to victory over Ashington at Roseworth Terrace. Drissell claimed 5/28 in his spell of 10.3 overs to help dismiss the visitors for 142 in 47.3 overs.

Charlie Harmison claimed three wickets in response but South North reached their 143 target within 31 overs to remain top of the NEPL Table.

Daniel Hogg continued his fine batting form for Newcastle with a half-century against Seaham Harbour at New Drive. The Harbour put on 203/6 from 49 overs in a rain-effected encounter. Hogg made 52 from 48 balls with five fours and four sixes as Newcastle pushed for victory, but finished 29 runs short with four wickets to spare from 32 overs.

Jim Twiddy was in the runs in Felling’s 22-run win over Shotley Bridge. Batting at three, Twiddy made 38 from 61 balls with seven boundaries at The Spa Grounds as Felling declared on 208/9 from 47 overs before bowling out the hosts for 86.

Teddy Minto was in the wickets for Norton in their three-wicket defeat to Rockcliffe Park at Station Road. Norton were dismissed for 109 before Minto starred with the ball taking 4/19 in 13 overs as the hosts claimed seven wickets in a valiant effort.
