With the North East Premier League and North Yorkshire South Durham Leagues underway, Durham Cricket will continue to provide weekly updates when Durham players are in action.
Stanley McAlindon and Haydon Mustard both starred with the bat as Shotley Bridge edged past Tynemouth by two wickets at Preston Avenue. Batting first, McAlindon opened for the hosts and top scored with an innings of 68 from 103 balls with 10 boundaries as he helped Tynemouth reach 224/6 before declaring.
Mustard led the chase for the Bridge with 54 in 63 balls from number 3, finishing as top scorer for the visitors as they chased down Tynemouth’s total with two wickets and seven balls to spare, despite two run outs for McAlindon.
Scott Borthwick shone with bat and ball as Hartlepool beat Stockton by 67 runs at The Grangefield Ground. Borthwick made 40 from 44 as he and Wilf La Fontaine-Jackson put on 86 for the second wicket, with La Fontaine-Jackson scoring 39. Hartlepool went on to score 224 before being bowled out inside 50 overs.
Borthwick then took figures of 3/23 as Hartlepool wrapped up victory over Stockton with almost eight overs to spare.
Durham Academy bowler Brett Hutchinson took three wickets for Chester le Street in their 98-run victory over Sunderland at Ropery Lane. After choosing to bat first, the hosts declared on 272 for three inside 46 overs before Hutchinson did the damage with the new ball, reducing the visitors to 3/3. Hutchinson closed the game with figures of 3/26 from nine overs as Sunderland were eventually dismissed for 174.
Durham Academy all-rounder Luke Symington scored 36 for Norton in their 21-run defeat to Barnard Castle at Station Road. Norton bowled out the visitors for 181 inside 36 overs and Symington got Norton off to a positive start with the bat, scoring 36 from 50 with seven boundaries. Barnard Castle then ran through the home side reducing them from 114-2 to 160 all out.
