Durham County Cricket Club’s much-loved mascots Chester and River will partake in this year’s Simplyhealth Great North Run.
Usually renowned for their matchday Vitality Blast antics, the pair will be taking on a more challenging test as they tackle the 13.1 miles from Newcastle’s city centre to the coast in South Shields, raising money for the DCCC Foundation.
Durham CCC have a strong team of nine runners joining the mascots from both the commercial department and Cricket Board, however due to this Autumn’s busy cricket schedule, unfortunately none of the players were able to feature this year.
The Durham County Cricket Foundation is based at Emirates Riverside and uses the beautiful game of cricket to inspire learning, promote healthy living and improve the employability of people in the region. The foundation works across three main pillars Education Health and Well-being Employability.
