Durham Cricket Foundation Golf Day Raises More Than £9,000

Durham Cricket Foundation’s second annual Golf Day has raised more than £9,000 to support the charity’s work creating opportunities through cricket and sport across the North East.

Businesses, community organisations and cricket supporters came together at Ramside Hall on Friday 21 August for a day of golf, networking and fundraising in support of the Foundation’s community programmes.

Following the success of the inaugural event in 2025, this year’s Golf Day once again welcomed 18 teams to the Prince Bishops’ Course, with strong support from organisations across the region helping to make the event a special second edition.

Teams representing Everyone Active, North East Youth Alliance, Newlands Sports, Dynamic Transport Planning, Hetton Lyons Cricket Club, Ramside, Ryecroft Glenton, MRP Surveyors, Durham Youth Trust, Unite Group, Kala GM Ltd, Whickham Cricket Club, Accenture and the Foundation’s Guest Team all took part in the event.

Accenture was particularly well represented, with four teams competing, while Newlands Sports, which recently strengthened its partnership with Durham Cricket Foundation, also supported the event.

The Foundation is also grateful to Everyone Active for returning as Headline Sponsor for the 2026 Golf Day, while Quantum Aseptics sponsored the golf balls for the event, providing personalised balls for every player.

Teams competed in a shotgun-start Texas Scramble, alongside a range of on-course challenges including Nearest the Pin, Longest Drive and Beat the Pro, before coming together for a post-golf BBQ buffet, prize presentation and networking.

The event raised just over £9,000, with all proceeds helping Durham Cricket Foundation deliver its work across the region, including recreational cricket, inclusive participation programmes and opportunities for people of all ages and abilities.

Graeme Weeks, Chief Executive Officer at Durham Cricket Foundation, said: “We are incredibly grateful to everyone who supported our second Foundation Golf Day and helped us raise over £9,000.

“To see so many businesses, community organisations and cricket supporters come together for a second year is a fantastic reflection of the strength of our network and the shared commitment to supporting communities across the North East.

“The funds raised will make a real difference to the work we deliver throughout the year, helping us create more opportunities for people to get active, connect with others and enjoy cricket.

“Thank you to everyone who took part, our sponsors and everyone who helped make the day such a success. We are already looking forward to next year’s event.”

Following the success of this year’s event, the Foundation is already looking ahead to its next Golf Day, which will take place on Tuesday 13 July 2027. Further details, including sponsorship opportunities and how to get involved, will be announced in due course, with businesses and organisations encouraged to save the date for another day of golf, networking and fundraising.

The Foundation Golf Day forms part of Durham Cricket Foundation’s wider fundraising activity, helping generate vital income to support its charitable work across the North East.
