500 Free Places on Offer for October Half Term Cricket Camps Across the North East

Durham Cricket Foundation is offering 500 free places to children across the North East as part of a special programme of All Stars Cricket camps during the October half term.

Children aged 5-8 years will have the opportunity to enjoy a morning of cricket, games and activities across three venues in Darlington, Sunderland and Gateshead, with all sessions taking place from 9am to 12pm.

The October half term camps will provide a fun and accessible opportunity for children to stay active, try cricket and spend time with others during the school holidays.

The sessions will take place at:

  • Darlington Dolphin Centre – Monday 26 October, 9am–12pm
  • Beacon of Light, Sunderland – Wednesday 28 October, 9am–12pm
  • Gateshead Leisure Centre – Friday 30 October, 9am–12pm

Together, the three sessions will provide 490 places, with further availability being managed through the programme’s registration process.

The October camps continue Durham Cricket Foundation’s programme of free holiday activities delivered throughout the summer, which saw 530 young people take part in courses across 25 venues, with free pack lunch provided to each participant.

The camps form part of Durham Cricket Foundation’s wider work to provide opportunities for children and young people to get involved in cricket, regardless of their previous experience or ability.

Graeme Weeks, Chief Executive Officer at Durham Cricket Foundation said: “Providing opportunities for children to get involved in cricket is at the heart of what we do at Durham Cricket Foundation and we are delighted to be able to offer free places during October Half Term cricket camps across the North East.”

“We know that school holidays can be a great opportunity for children to try something new, stay active and spend time with others, but cost can sometimes be a barrier for families. Every child should have the opportunity to experience the joy of cricket, and we are delighted to be making that possible for hundreds of children across the North East this October half term.”

With spaces expected to be in demand, parents and carers are encouraged to register their interest as early as possible. The Foundation is currently collecting expressions of interest through a short registration survey to support planning and help families access the free places once the ECB discount code is available.
