Durham Cricket Foundation is inviting children, young people and families to make this a summer to remember with a packed programme of cricket activities taking place across the North East throughout the school holidays.
From free community camps and disability cricket sessions to specialist coaching one-to-one sessions and holiday camps at Banks Homes Riverside, the Foundation’s 2026 summer programme offerings have been designed to ensure everyone has the opportunity to enjoy cricket, regardless of age, experience or ability.
Over 650 Free Cricket Camp Places
At the heart of this year’s programme are 682 free places at All Stars and Dynamos Cricket Camps, delivered across more than 20 venues throughout July and August.
Open to children aged 5-11, the camps provide a fun introduction to cricket through games, teamwork and physical activity. Thanks to the support of Durham Cricket Foundation, Accenture and the ECB, every place is completely free and include a packed lunch, helping remove financial barriers for families during the summer holidays.
Holiday Camps at Banks Homes Riverside
Children looking to have an unforgettable cricket experience can also take part in Durham Cricket Foundation’s Holiday Camps at Banks Homes Riverside, the home of Durham Cricket.
Delivered by qualified coaches, the camps combine cricket coaching, games and challenges in a fun and supportive environment, giving young players the opportunity to develop their skills while enjoying time on one of the leading county cricket grounds.
Suitable for players of all abilities, the camps are ideal for children wanting to build confidence, stay active and make new friends during the school holidays.
Free Disability Cricket Camps
Durham Cricket Foundation continues its commitment to making cricket accessible for everyone through a series of free Disability Cricket Camps taking place across the region this summer.
Open to young people aged 7-25 with any disability, the sessions are delivered by experienced coaches who adapt activities to suit each participant, creating a welcoming environment where everyone can enjoy the game, develop new skills and build confidence.
Sessions will take place both at Banks Homes Riverside and at local ECB Disability Champion Clubs, giving even more families the opportunity to get involved.
One-to-One Coaching
For players wanting to accelerate their development, Durham Cricket Foundation’s One-to-One Coaching sessions provide 45 minutes of personalised coaching with experienced coaches in batting, wicket keeping, seam bowling or spin bowling. Open to players aged eight and over, the sessions are available throughout the summer holidays alongside holiday camps and further throughout the year.
Cricket in the Park
Families can also enjoy a free day of cricket and outdoor fun at Cricket in the Park, taking place on Friday 31 July, from 10am to 2pm at Riverside Park, Chester-le-Street.
Delivered in partnership with Move County Durham, the event will feature a range of fun cricket activities and games suitable for all ages and abilities, giving families the chance to get active together. Whether trying cricket for the first time or simply enjoying a day outdoors, everyone is encouraged to come along and join in.
