One year into Caught and Sewed

Still very much a work-in-progress, the banner is a wicket-length (22 yards) of fabric covered with graffiti-style stitched images capturing what Durham County Cricket Club means to us all. There is no set pattern to follow, the banner design is evolving as we go, and the stitched images are as simple or as complex as each individual sewer wishes.

The idea came from Durham County Cricket Foundation’s health and well-being group, 50 Not Out, and is simply about bringing people together to create a lasting memory of Durham County Cricket Club. Every part of this project is donated by the people involved, from the fabric and cotton to the refreshments enjoyed as they stitch. So many people have already been involved; some rediscovering old skills, and others finding that they have hidden talents.

Everybody is invited to become a part of this. We would encourage everyone to become part of this and anyone interested getting involved can get more information here or by contacting Sally on 0191 387 2899 or sally.landon@durhamccc.co.uk.

We will also be showcasing the banner on Durham County Cricket Club’s Open Day on 7th April, where you can also add your own stitches and creative contribution. Find out more about the Open Day here.
