Emma Marlow hits an unbeaten 62 as Durham Women Second XI beat The Blaze Second XI by seven wickets in the ECB T20 Development Competition at Gateshead Fell.
After being put in to bat first, The Blaze didn’t lose a wicket until the 10th over but had only managed 59 runs by the halfway stage, two balls after Katherine Fraser had Michaela Kirk stumped for 31.
Abi Glen then removed Josie Groves in the following over before Fraser bowled a sweeping Annabelle Howarth to claim Durham’s third wicket in three overs, with the visitors 67 for three.
Partnerships of 21 and 24 were both disrupted by Sophia Turner but saw The Blaze reach 112 for five, before adding a further 15 from the last nine balls to reach 127/5.
Durham lost Mia Rogers in the second over but Marlow was able to share a stand of 63 for the second wicket with Harriet Robson to take the hosts beyond halfway of their target at 69/2.
Robson was run out in the ninth over and Phoebe Turner soon followed but Alice Eltringham joined Marlow at the crease and remained until the end.
Marlow finished 62 not out from 45 deliveries, featuring seven fours as the pair eased Durham to victory in the 16th over.
