DCB Spin it to win it and Catches win matches courses

Spin bowling is playing an ever-increasing role in the modern game of cricket.  The world’s leading wicket takers, Warne and Muralitharan have heightened the spin bowlers’ appeal to the new generation and t20 cricket has provided a huge role change for the old-fashioned English spinner.

Therefore, this winter Durham Cricket Board is running an open spin course in order to give people the opportunity to learn more about spin bowling.  This does not necessarily mean players who are already established, or who have previously played in County Age Group Teams, but can include any players who have some talent that may not yet have been identified at a county level, or even someone who wants to give spin a go and try it out.

The sessions are open to spin bowlers under the age of 16 years old and will be held in the Indoor Cricket Centre at Emirates Durham ICG on the following dates:-

Thursday 1st  December 5pm – 6.30pm
Thursday 8th December 5pm – 6.30pm
Thursday 15th December 5pm – 6.30pm

The sessions will be overseen by Durham Academy Coach John Windows and Academy Assistant Coach Alastair Maiden with other invited coaches as thought appropriate.  The cost of these sessions is £18.00 and cheques can be made payable to Durham Cricket Board and returned to:-

Steven Bell, Durham Cricket Board, Emirates Durham ICG, Riverside, Chester le Street, DH3 3QR

In addition to this course we are also running an open ‘Catches win matches’ wicket keeping course where any wicket keepers are welcome to come and learn about wicket keeping.  This course will cost £18.00 and should be made payable to Durham Cricket Board and sent to the address above.  The course will take place at the Riverside Indoor Cricket Centre on the following dates:-

Thursday 10th November 5.00pm – 6.30pm
Thursday 17th November 5.00pm – 6.30pm
Thursday 24th November 5.00pm – 6.30pm
