Durham Cricket are delighted to announce that David Bedingham will be returning to the Club for the 2026 season.
Bedingham has put pen to paper on a deal that will see him remain in the North East for a seventh straight season.
The 31-year-old wrote his name in Durham’s history books when he scored 279 against Lancashire in Chester-le-Street, achieving the Club’s highest individual first-class score as he enjoyed a run-laden 2024 County Championship season scoring 1,331 runs.
Closing in on 5,000 runs for Durham in the red ball arena at an average nearing 55, Bedingham has consistently impressed since joining in 2020 passing 1,000 runs in three campaigns whilst striking 16 centuries and 14 fifties in first-class cricket.
During his time in the North East the South African has earnt his first call up with the Proteas appearing on 15 occasions for his nation, scoring his maiden Test century against New Zealand in Hamilton in February 2024.
Bedingham has also stood out in the white ball formats, hitting two half-centuries in six Vitality Blast innings in 2024 and set his T20 best of 78 against Lancashire, going on to earn deals with Sunrisers Eastern Cape and Durban’s Super Giants in the SA20.
The South African international smashed Durham’s quickest List A century from 52 balls against Sussex Sharks in 2023 in Hove whilst reaching three figures from just 65 balls against Middlesex in August 2025.

On signing with Durham for a further year, Bedingham said: “I am very excited to be coming back to Durham for next season.
