Durham Cricket and Durham Pride Partner Once Again to Celebrate Inclusivity in Sport

Durham Cricket are proud to announce the return of their Pride in Cricket game day, in partnership with Durham Pride, for the third consecutive year. Taking place on Wednesday 11 June, the double header T20 Blast games will celebrate equality, diversity, and inclusion within cricket and the wider community, marking a highlight of Pride Month in the region.

The action begins at 2:30pm as Durham Women face Birmingham Bears Women, followed by the Durham Men’s team taking on Derbyshire Falcons at 6:30pm. One ticket grants entry to both fixtures, ensuring a full day of top-tier cricket and celebration for fans of all ages.

Gates open at 1:30pm, and there will be entertainment and activities throughout the evening, including the Everyone Active Family Zone, a vibrant Heineken Fan Zone, live music, and a variety of food and drink options to enjoy. The venue will proudly display rainbow branding and guests are encouraged to come dressed in their brightest outfits to show their support for the LGBTQ+ community.

This year’s event follows closely on the heels of the Durham Pride Weekend, taking place in Durham City on 24–25 May, further reinforcing the strong and ongoing partnership between Durham Cricket and Durham Pride. As one of the first organisations to join the North East of England Rainbow Alliance, Durham Cricket has remained steadfast in its commitment to promoting inclusivity in sport and beyond.

Durham players will once again wear rainbow armbands as a visible symbol of support for the LGBTQ+ community, reinforcing the club’s stance that cricket – and sport in general – is for everyone.

David Jackson, Durham Cricket’s Marketing Director, commented:

“We are all really proud of the relationship we have developed with the team at Durham Pride and our membership of the North East of England Rainbow Alliance. When we first discussed the opportunity with Mel, we wanted to build a lasting partnership that went beyond a one-off game. We’ll continue to support these organisations however we can and use our platform to champion their work, while ensuring that cricket and our venue are inclusive for all.”

Mel Metcalf, Chair of Durham Pride, added:

“We are delighted that Durham Cricket continue to lead the way with their support of the LGBTQ+ community across the North East. The game is a fantastic way to demonstrate their commitment and to let everyone know that cricket – and the Riverside venue – is a place for all.

I’ll be honest – I don’t follow cricket closely – but the Pride in Cricket match is a brilliant evening out! We’ll be there with music, entertainment, and an area where people can learn more about what we do and how to get involved. It’s a true celebration of diversity.”

Tickets for Pride in Cricket 2025 are available now, with entry to both matches included:
