14th June 2019 Events

Full ChesterFest schedule & timings confirmed

The line-up for ChesterFest 2019 has been confirmed and it’s set to be a bumper weekend of free entertainment in the town.

The event, which takes place over the weekend of Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd June in Chester-le-Streets Riverside Park, will have entertainment and events for people of all ages and will be a real celebration of what Chester-le-Street has to offer.

There will be a range of different aspects to the event including a marquee with a bar featuring bands from across the region. The event is being headlined by The Lake Poets who recently rose to global fame with their song, Shipyards, being used as the theme tune to the Netflix documentary Sunderland Till I Die.

As well as the music there will be a community village inside Hadrian’s Tipi, which will have stands showcasing the best of what the town has to offer with a range of businesses and community groups including Teesdale Cheese, Vibrant Hair and Beauty, British Heart Foundation, Arty Party, The Cherry Tree, The Job Centre and many more.

A range of food will be available to purchase and sample with vendors such as The Fat Hippo, Log Fire Pizza Co, Spud Gun Loaded Fries and the Northumbrian Sausage company. The food area will also feature a food theatre with some of the town’s best restaurants, such as Fabio’s, Refuse and Little Dot Dishes demonstrating how to cook some great dishes on a budget.

There will also be a games area where people can sample different sports and enjoy fun games such as a batting simulator, inflatable cricket and football games and speak to local clubs and foundations to learn more about how to take part in these activities.

Durham Cricket Chief Executive, Tim Bostock, said: “We are delighted with the scale of the event and the enthusiasm from all of the local businesses and organisations to get involved.

The event is free for everyone to attend and that has been made possible due to sponsors, Karbon Homes, Bellway and the Chester-le-Street Area Action Partnership, who were all keen to be involved in an event which we hope will bring the whole community together.”
