Runs for Emily Whiting and Freya Rook claims six wickets as Durham Women’s Academy share the spoils in a T20 double header with Warwickshire.
After being put into bat by the hosts at Beacon Cricket Club, Whiting shared an opening stand of 43 with Harriet Robson as Durham made a solid start.
Whiting continued to add partnerships, sharing 39 with Jess Clarke before putting on 65 with Charlotte Stubbs; as she was dismissed in the final over.
Whiting led the way with 59 from 59 deliveries including eight fours and one maximum, leaving Durham 147/3 with three balls to go.
Stubbs backed up Whiting, finishing unbeaten on 31 from 27 balls as Rachel Hopkins’ side posted 149/3 in their 20 overs.
Freya Rook then claimed four early wickets as Durham made a flying start in defence of their total reducing Warwickshire to 41/4.
Rook struck in the second over, before taking two scalps in the space of three balls in her second over and then picked up her fourth in the sixth.
Durham picked up two further wickets to reduce the hosts to 66 for six before ILT Singh added some resistance as she top scored for the hosts with 37.
After a stand of 37, Durham made a double breakthrough before a ninth-wicket partnership of 26 left Warwickshire requiring 19 from 10 balls.
Laura Trotter wrapped things up as Durham prevailed by 12 runs with Warwickshire all out for 137.
Mae Deaville claimed 2/19 with Kate Million also picking up one scalp.
In a 15-over rain-reduced encounter, Warwickshire raced to 47/1 in the opening five overs with Bryony Gillgrass making a fast start.
Durham picked up regular wickets with Freya Rook taking wickets in back-to-back overs but runs continued to flow as Gillgrass smashed 74 from 37 with seven sixes and three fours.
Erin Tweats made an unbeaten 34 from 19 balls as Warwickshire posted a strong total of 145/5 with Million, Trotter and Stubbs all taking one wicket apiece.
Emily Whiting led the way again with the bat scoring 41 from 26 balls with seven fours but struggled for support with Harriet Robson (14) the only other batter to reach double figures as Warwickshire won by 61 runs.
