Pathway and Academy fast bowlers begin development programme

Promising fast bowlers from Durham Cricket under-14s through to Academy have been invited to join a 5-week pre-Christmas fast bowling development programme at The Riverside.

Led by Durham Cricket Lead Bowling Neil Killeen, the programme has been supported by Will Gidman, Nathan Rimmington, John Windows, James Lowe and Cole Pearce.

The programme which began two weeks ago, saw all in attendance put through an initial profiling session where they had their action analysed along with speed testing across all deliveries.

Alongside profiling players are tested from a Strength and Conditioning perspective to gain further information on running techniques and speeds.

All of the information will then be collated and used to develop a programme designed to assist the individuals in becoming more efficient with their actions.

The sessions are structured into two halves split between bowling drills with the club’s Assistant Strength & Conditioning coach James Bell working on a strength and conditioning programme.

Following on from this further session will be held after Christmas to develop the bowlers from a skill point of view where bowlers will learn more about their own super strengths whilst also developing new parts to their armoury.

Assistant High-Performance Coach and Lead Bowling coach, Neil Killeen said: “This investment into our young fast bowlers in the area is fundamental to us as a club as it allows us to gain vital information and knowledge about them as individuals.

It is exciting to see what we have coming through across all ages and gives us a great foundation moving forward.”
