Luke Symington scores unbeaten 163 from just 68 balls as Durham Men’s Academy enjoy dominant NEPL T20 victory over Sunderland.  

Symington won the toss for Durham and chose to bat first at Ashbrooke Sports Club, opening the batting with Owen Harwood.

The pair both carried their bats with Harwood making 73 from 57 balls including seven fours as Symington stole the show at the other end.

The Stockton-born cricketer’s innings of 163 featured 24 boundaries – 16 of those being sixes, as he helped Durham to a stellar 252 without loss from 20 overs.

Finlay Barlow then got the young Ds off to a flyer with the ball, striking twice in two balls in the second over before Sam Hood took Durham’s third in the next over leave Sunderland on 6/3.

Barlow went on to take three wickets and Hood claimed two scalps as Symington, Myles Price and Charlie Burden took one apiece to help Durham limit the hosts to 94 for eight to leave a mammoth 158 runs as the final victory margin.

Durham Men’s Academy are back in NEPL T20 action against Philadelphia at 6pm on Monday 19 May at Philadelphia Cricket & Community Club.
