Durham Cricket are delighted to announce that Kasey Aldridge has been appointed as Men’s List A captain.
Aldridge will lead Ryan Campbell’s side during the upcoming Metro Bank One Day Cup, with Alex Lees being given the opportunity to concentrate solely on playing duties.
Having been appointed on Durham’s leadership group over the winter, the 25-year-old will step up into his first captaincy role since his permanent move to the North East in November 2025.
Aldridge has 29 List A appearances to his name, having represented Somerset in the One Day Cup since 2021.
The bowling all-rounder has 42 wickets in the 50-over format with a best of 6/33 coming against Lancashire in Taunton on Somerset’s run to the final in 2024.
On becoming captain, Kasey Aldridge said: “It feels like a great honour. We’ve obviously had a good start to the season in the County Championship and we’re looking to take that forward. We’ve got a great squad around and I can’t wait to get going.
“I was a little bit surprised to get the opportunity because of the amount of experience we have in the squad. We have a lot of guys with a lot of experience in cricket so for me to get the nod I’m really happy but I know there’s a lot of guys around me that can help out as well.
“I’ll wear it with pride, both the captaincy and the shirt. I can’t wait.”
Men’s Head Coach Ryan Campbell said: “Kasey Aldridge came for his first season in first-class cricket with Durham and in one pre-season he was unanimously voted into that leadership group. That takes some doing. It just shows that he has immediately shown qualities that our players just thought ‘wow’.
“I also felt it was really important that Alex [Lees] gets a break. He does so much for this Club and we are so lucky to have him but he deserves the chance to have a couple of games off and also to not have to think about the game all the time.”
