Ds abroad: Rimmington claims 3/28 in Tuskers opening T10 win

Nathan Rimmington put in a match winning performance with the ball, guiding the Karnataka Tuskers to a 19-run victory over Delhi Bulls in their opening fixture in the Abu Dhabi T10 league.

Skipper Hashim Amla lost the toss as the Tuskers were asked to bat, posting 110/5 from their allotted overs – the highest score in the competition as of Saturday. Upul Tharanga top scored with 48 from 22 balls supported by 34 from Shafiqullah Shafiq in the Tuskers total.

Delhi Bulls found themselves struggling early in their reply, being reduced to 29/3, Nathan Rimmington dismissing Paul Stirling for seven in the second over.

Requiring 33 from the final two overs, Rimmington was brought back into the attack, picking up the big wicket of England captain Eoin Morgan who was caught in the deep for 21. Before claiming the wicket of David Willey for four, rounding of his two overs with figures of 3/28 and helping the Tuskers secure victory.

Liam Trevaskis continued his form in New Zealand helping Upper Hutt United to a six-wicket victory over Petone-Eastbourne Cricket Club.  The home side scored a competitive 220/9 from their 50 overs with Trevaskis claiming 1/37 from ten overs.  He then starred with the bat, scoring 84 from 79 balls smashing five fours and four sixes backed by an unbeaten 79 from opener Callum McLachlan as Upper Hut cruised to victory in 36.4 overs.

Jack Burnham was this week on the losing side as Johnsonville Cricket Club suffered a 130-run defeat against Karori Cricket Club at Karori Park, Wellington. Both Michael Pollard (109) and Hamish Marshall (106) scored centuries as the home side posted an impressive 298/8 from 50 overs. Johnsonville couldn’t get going in their reply, Burnham adding 27 from 38 balls, as his side were bowled out for 168 in 36.5 overs.

Academy youngster Jonathan Bushnell remains on 108* as Claremont-Nedlands lead by 99 going into day two of their game against Subiaco Floreat. Bushnell who is enjoying his time in the middle so far this winter, contributed with 108 as the side closed day one on 372/5 from 172 balls with 12 fours. Jack Retallack scored 100 as Subiaco Floreat scored 273 in the first innings of the 2nd grade fixture. Bushnell will continue where he left off next Saturday (23 November).
