Ds abroad: Cameron Steel back in action for Claremont-Nedlands

Cameron Steel returned back to action on Saturday for Claremont-Nedlands Cricket Club in their Western Australia Cricket Association 1st Grade fixture against Melville Cricket Club at Tompkins Park. Batting first the Tigers were bowled out for 223 in 74.1 overs, with Steel scoring 37 from 54 balls with two fours and one six backed by an impressive stand of 91 from Bradley Hope in 136 balls with 11 fours and three sixes. In reply Melville closed on 31/2 from 13 overs and will resume next Saturday (November 30).

Upper Hut United Cricket Club continued their excellent start to the season with a comprehensive eight wicket win over Wellington Collegians inside 14 overs. Liam Trevaskis is currently in superb form since heading to New Zealand, picking up 1/31 from six overs in this weekend’s fixture.  Lahiru Vidanalage (3/17) and Matt Taylor (2/10) were also in the wickets, as Wellington Collegians were bowled out for just 99 in 34.3 overs. Upper Hut then cruised to victory in 13.3 overs with Callum McLachlan closing unbeaten on 65 from 41 balls, as they reached their target set in a comfortable manner.

Jack Burnham was on the winning side this weekend as Johnsonville Cricket Club edged home by three runs against Taita Cricket Club. Having won the toss and elected to bat, the home side scored a competitive 239/9 from 50 overs, Burnham scoring 14 from 23 balls. Haydon Smith was key with 65, batting at number seven. Despite all of the batsman for Taita contributing throughout the innings, Johnsonville were in it right to the end, Burnham forcing a last gasp run out securing victory by three runs.

Auckland University Cricket Club lost to Takapuna in the Auckland Cricket Association Premier Division fixture. Takapuna amassed 323 all out in their first innings as Mike Sclanders led the way with a fine 131, backed by 65 from Quinn Sunde. In reply, Auckland were dismissed for 200 and 125 respectively, Graham Clark top scoring second innings with 36 from 73 balls. Takapuna required just six runs to win, securing the victory in three balls.

Nathan Rimmington’s time with the Karnataka Tuskers in the Abu Dhabi T10 competition came to an end, securing just one win in the competition. Throughout the tournament Rimmington claimed six wickets from the five games played, with a best of 3/28 against Delhi Bulls in the opening fixture.
