Cumbria, Lincolnshire wins have U15 Boys on top

Durham Under-15 Boys enjoyed two wins over Cumbria and Lincolnshire to go top of the ECB Royal London group 1B division.

The team put in a dominant performance with the bat to make it back to back win overs Lincolnshire in the ECB Royal London Cup.

Having lost the toss at Hartlepool, Durham were asked to bat, and openers Dan Gray and Tom Bolam got the home side off to a flyer, as Bolam scored a quick fire 29 from 23 balls hitting six fours. His resilience soon came to an end, hitting one up into the air as Ben Conroy picked up his first wicket.

Daniel Gray (54) and Abhinav Ramisetty (64) then came together with a third wicket stand of 100 to take Durham up to 143/3.

Once Gray departed, Jake Pratt came to the show and continued where the Willington youngster left off, scoring a 57-ball 53, before a mix up in the middle saw Pratt ran out having hit three fours and one six.

Sisa Tuntulwana picked up two wickets and forced a run out, as Durham were eventually bowled out for 283 in 49.5 overs.

Lincolnshire lost three early wickets in the opening stages, struggling at 43/3 as Robbie Dawson, Luke Husband and Jonny Woods all struck to dismiss the top Lincolnshire order.

Although, Lincs lost wickets early on, Ben Conroy (58) and Alex Cook (51) helped the visitors to get back on track taking them to 160/5.

Both eventually fell, trying to hit out, as Lincolnshire closed their 50 overs on 185/7, Robbie Dawson striking with figures of 2/15 supported by 2/21 from Woods.

It was an emphatic win for Durham Under-15 Boys as they cruised to a 147-run victory over Cumbria at Workington Cricket Club. It was a positive start for Durham as Robbie Dawson and Daniel Gray set Durham a positive platform, with an opening stand of 79, before Gray fell for 19.

Robbie Dawson took advantage of the power-play with 56 from 49 balls scoring ten fours in process before being caught off the bowling of Joss Edwards.

The full Durham line up all spent time in the middle all contributing with the bat, as Jake Pratt (28), Lochlann Young-Hall (21) and Harry Lumsden (21) helped Durham reach a commanding total of 231/9 from 50 overs.

Finn Turnbull was the pick of the bowlers for Cumbria with figures of 4/11 dismissing three of Durham’s top order batsman, while Stanley McAlindon (2/36) struck.

Cumbria started steadily, losing their first wicket at 23, but Edward Brown dismissed both of the Cumbrian’s opening batsman for seven and five respectably.

Harry Lumsden then came into the attack and dismissed Cumbria’s top order, to claim 4/21 from 6.1 overs.

Edward Brown rounded off his spell with three wickets for 19 runs, while Jake Dickinson picked up 2/17, as Cumbria were bowled out for 84 in 26 overs.
