Callum Parkinson signs one-year contract extension

Durham Cricket are pleased to announce that Callum Parkinson has signed a one-year contract extension with Durham Cricket.

Parkinson has penned a deal that extends his stay in Chester le Street until the end of the 2027 season, taking him into his fourth season in the North East.

The slow left-armer has played an important role in Durham’s County Championship campaign so far this term, bagging 14 wickets claiming his third first-class five-wicket haul for Durham with figures of 5/13 in a dominant win against Worcestershire at New Road.

A key player across red and white ball cricket, Parkinson has passed 50 domestic T20 wickets for the County, forming a key part of the side that qualified for back-to-back T20 Blast quarter-finals.

The 29-year-old has also shown his worth with the bat scoring his maiden Durham first-class half-century with 54* against Kent while also sharing five 50 run stands batting at 11.

Since moving to the North East from Leicestershire, Parkinson has represented the County in all three-formats making 72 appearances over his time in Chester le Street.

Parkinson has gone onto earn England Lions recognition while a Durham player along with his franchise selections in the Hundred with the Northern Superchargers, Trent Rockets and MI London.

Men’s Head Coach Ryan Campbell said: “It is great news that Parky has agreed to extend with us at Durham for at least next season.

“He is such an experienced spinner on the domestic circuit and his performances for Durham in both red and white ball cricket has been clear to see since his arrival.

“Parky was frustrated last year, at maybe not getting the red ball game time he would have liked, but this year he is making up for that by putting in key contributions in the County Championship.

“His batting has improved immensely and that is huge credit to him for the work he has put in over the winter as he looks to put in performances down the order for Durham with the bat.

“We are looking forward to seeing him continue to perform for us with a red and white ball in a Durham shirt for years to come.”

On extending, Parkinson added: “I am delighted to sign until at least end of next season, we’ve got a great group of players.

“I am really enjoying my cricket this season and excited to see where this team can go. Hopefully it’s massive finish to the season in all three competitions and I can’t wait for it!”
