Bushnell, Doneathy & Glendinning selected in England Young Lions training camp

Three Durham Cricket Academy players have been selected for an England Young Lions training camp, which takes place at Loughborough University later this week.

Jonathan Bushnell, Luke Doneathy and Brodie Glendinning will join up with a group of 24 players from across the country as preparations begin for squad selection for the England under-19s squad.

All three players have been successful within age group cricket in the county, representing the North of England at the David English Bunbury Festival in recent years, along with spells in the Durham 2XI team.

The camp which will take place at the ECB Performance Centre, Loughborough University will see all 24 players combined together, to go against each other in a three-day fixture.

Durham Cricket Academy Director, John Windows said: “This selection for the England Young Lions training camp is credit to the lads for their performances and hard work they have put in both on and off the field in recent seasons.

“They have worked very hard into the lead up to selection, so now it is about putting what they know well into action this week.

“As a county it is once again very pleasing to have Durham being represented with an ECB training camp and they have a fantastic opportunity to show what they can do and thoroughly deserve this opportunity.”

Right arm quick, Brodie Glendinning said: “I’m very excited to be heading down to Loughborough for the red ball game. It’s just a great opportunity in such a difficult time. It’s really good that we are able to get some form of representative cricket.”

Top order, right handed batsman Jonathan Bushnell added: “I’m really looking forward to getting stuck in with the North lads after what’s been a frustrating summer, I’m very fortunate to be given the opportunity.”

Right arm bowler Luke Doneathy, who represented England under-19s last summer, said: “‘I’m really looking forward to playing this weekend in what’s been a frustrating shortened season. It should be good fun and valuable experience.”
