Durham Cricket are thrilled to announce that Ben Raine has committed his future to the Club signing a further one-year extension.
The 34-year-old Academy product has put pen to paper on a deal that will see him remain at his boyhood club until at least the end of the 2028 season – extending past his current deal which was due to expire at the end of the 2027 season.
A crucial member of the Durham attack, Raine is closing in on 350 Durham first-class wickets with 14 five-wicket hauls, going from strength to strength since his return from Leicestershire in 2019.
A stalwart of the Club, the bowling all-rounder surpassed Gareth Breese to become Durham’s record T20 wicket-taker with 102 scalps whilst his 344 first-class wickets are the fifth highest for Durham.
Raine’s 44 wickets in the 2025 County Championship saw him top the wicket charts for the County, having collected 546 wickets across his first-class career with a best of 6/27 against Sussex in 2019.
An all-rounder with over 4,500 first-class runs to his name, Raine scored his third County Championship century in May 2026 – a career best 106 coming against Kent at Beckenham.
His T20 record also impresses having taken a pair of five-wicket hauls on his way to 142 Blast wickets while his blistering 113 from 46 balls against Birmingham Bears in 2018 was the second fastest T20 century by an Englishman.
On his extension, Raine said: “I am really happy to extend with Durham and continue my cricket at my home county.
“Playing for Durham is so much fun and at the moment I am really enjoying my cricket, I am over the moon to have extended and can’t wait for the next couple of years with this group.”
Men’s Head Coach, Ryan Campbell said: “It is fantastic news that Ben has signed an extension with us – committing to another year with his home county.
“Everything about Ben Raine is what Durham Cricket stands for and since I have been at the Club he has been integral to our success in both red and white ball cricket.
“In addition to Ben’s consistent performances year in year out on the field for Durham, his leadership within the changing room is outstanding.
“We all look forward to seeing Ben continue to pay a key role in all formats in the coming years.”
