Durham Cricket are thrilled to announce the signing of Indian batter Mayank Agarwal for the closing stages of the Rothesay County Championship.
Agarwal joins up with Ryan Campbell’s squad for the final four red ball fixtures of 2026 – starting with the trip to the cinch County Ground to face Northamptonshire.
The top-order batter has 21 Test caps to his name, having scored almost 1,500 red ball runs for India with a high score of 243 coming against Bangladesh in Indore in 2019 – one of four centuries on the international stage.
Agarwal is closing in on 9,000 first-class career runs with 21 hundreds and has experience on the county circuit – having spent the final three games of the 2025 County Championship at Yorkshire.
Born in Bangalore, the 35-year-old has represented his hometown club Karnataka across all three formats since 2011 scoring a first-class best 304* in 2017.
Agarwal has compiled over 5,000 T20 runs – with six Indian Premier League sides on his CV, having enjoyed success in the victorious Royal Challengers Bangalore team in 2025.
Men’s Head Coach, Ryan Campbell said: “We are delighted to have Mayank joining us for our County Championship run in.
“With David Bedingham returning to South Africa ahead of their international red ball summer it was important we acted by recruiting a high-class international cricketer for the remainder of the season.
“Mayank is a hugely talented batter who has a superb first-class record, we look forward to him contributing to Durham as we look to secure our return to Division One of the County Championship.”
