Durham Cricket are pleased to announce that Colin Ackermann has penned a two-year contract extension.
Ackermann has signed a deal lasting until the end of the 2028 campaign extending his stay in the North East into a fifth season.
The 35-year-old inked his name into Durham history sharing the largest partnership in the Club’s first-class history of 425 alongside David Bedingham, scoring 186 in an memorable home innings victory over Lancashire in September 2024.
Ackermann has a further four first-class centuries in a Durham shirt having totalled over 1,500 red-ball runs since his arrival from Leicestershire in 2024, with more than 12,000 career first-class runs.
A powerful T20 player, the Dutch international has almost 5,000 runs with 26 half-centuries – striking an enterprising 83 off 33 balls against Notts Outlaws last summer for his highest Vitality Blast score in a Durham shirt.
The South African has the best bowling figures in T20 Blast history, taking 7/18 against Birmingham Bears in 2019 to break the record for the best men’s T20 bowling figures.
On extending with Durham, Ackermann said: “I’m absolutely delighted to sign an extension with the club.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time up here in the North East so signing on was an easy decision.
“I can’t wait to see what this group can achieve in the coming years.”
Men’s Head Coach, Ryan Campbell added: ‘I am delighted that Colin has agreed to extend with us for the next two years.
“Since joining from Leicestershire he has been an integral member of our squad bringing a wealth of experience and a strong desire to help Durham Cricket win cricket matches.
“Ackers gives us an important amount of flexibility with both bat and ball across all three formats and is a match winner on his day which we have seen throughout his three years at Durham and hopefully continue to see.”
