Sam Conners pens one-year extension

Durham Cricket are pleased to announce that Sam Conners has signed a one-year contract extension running until the end of the 2027 season.

Since joining from Derbyshire County Cricket Club in 2024, Conners has taken 12 wickets in seven matches across all formats.

The 27-year-old picked up his best returns with three wickets against Worcestershire in the County Championship in September 2025.

After making his Durham first-class debut against Zimbabwe A at Harare Sports Club, Conners featured in his first domestic match for the Club against Sussex in Chester-le-Street – claiming three wickets in the match.

The right-arm seamer’s latest appearance in a Durham shirt came against Lancashire in late April at Banks Homes Riverside – where he struck twice on the opening day, before seeing his season ended prematurely due to separate side and back injuries.

Ryan Campbell, Director of Cricket and High-Performance Coaching said: “Sammy is someone we rate really highly but sadly due to various injuries it’s been a bit of a battle keeping him out on the field over the past two years.

“We know how much of a hard worker he is, hopefully he can get himself up to speed over the coming months.

“Having seen glimpses of what he is capable of, we hope to see more of Sam in a Durham shirt over the next 12 months.”

Conners added: “I am delighted to sign an extension for the next year, these past two years have been very frustrating with injuries, so I am grateful that the club and Ryan have given me this opportunity.

“I will be doing everything I can to get myself back on the park and give back to the club that have stuck by me.”
