Durham Women pre-season tour rescheduled to Spain

Durham Cricket can confirm that the women’s pre-season tour to Abu Dhabi has been cancelled with alternative arrangements made.

The squad were scheduled to fly to Abu Dhabi on Monday, but with the ongoing situation in the Middle East the decision has been taken to find an alternative destination.

Dani Hazell’s squad will now travel to Desert Springs in Spain for a six-day camp running from Monday 23 March to Sunday 29 March.

During the week-long camp in Almería, Durham will take on the Blaze in a T20 fixture and 50 over fixture, providing the squad with important match preparation ahead of the season opener on Saturday 11 April.

Warm weather training will form the pre-season tour using net facilities in Spain with the two white ball fixtures concluding the tour.

Director of Cricket, Marcus North said: “We’re pleased to confirm that our women’s squad will travel to Spain on Monday for a week-long pre-season tour at Desert Springs.

“This will provide the entire squad with high-quality outdoor training and valuable match practice as we build towards the start of the season.

“I’d also like to thank the players for their flexibility and understanding in adapting to these changes at short notice as we revised our pre-season plans.”
