Ds Abroad: Brydon Carse in the wickets for England, Daniel Hogg in the runs

With pre-season now underway many of the Durham squad are spending their winter in sunnier climates playing overseas.

A regular feature on the Durham website throughout the winter will be recapping how the Durham players get on.

Brydon Carse claimed a pair of wickets in England’s victory New Zealand at the Hagley Oval as the Three Lions took a 1-0 lead in their T20 series against the Kiwis with a 65-run victory. After England posted 236/4, Carse struck twice in his opening four balls removing Tim Robinson and Rachin Ravindra on his way to figures of 2/27 in three overs as the hosts were dismissed for 171.

Daniel Hogg scored 31 for Perth-based side Western Suburbs in their dominant victory over Curtin Victoria Park. Batting at four, Hogg continued what was a strong start for the visitors with 31 from 33 balls striking one four and two sixes helping his side reach 241/4 from 40 overs.

Hogg then claimed one wicket in an economical opening spell, going for just four runs in as many overs whilst bowling one maiden as Curtin Victoria Park were dismissed for just 72.

Luke Robinson was in action for Swan Valley in their tight defeat to Ocean Ridge. Robinson bowled seven wicketless overs for just 27 runs as the Valley were unable to defend their total of 178, losing by three wickets with just eight balls remaining.
