Emma Marlow scored an unbeaten 76 as Durham Women claimed a narrow four run victory via Duckworth-Lewis in a 40-over friendly against Lancashire ahead of the season’s final block of fixtures.

After an uncontested toss in Sale, The Red Rose went out to bat first in the 40-over friendly clash and enjoyed an opening partnership of 215 as Durham struggled to make a breakthrough.

Megan McColl struck four times as the visitors managed to restrict Lancashire to 282/4 in their innings with Danielle Collins (102*) and Alice Clarke (98) doing the bulk of the run scoring.

Mia Rogers and Marlow scored 80 in 11 overs as Durham began their chase on track.

Marlow reached her half-century from 44 balls, leading Durham to 150 in the 24th over alongside Leah Dobson before Martha Rimmer claimed two wickets in the following three balls.

Dani Hazell’s side added a further nine before the rain arrived, removing the players from the field.

The players managed to return to the field with Durham adding a further 16 in seven balls, ensuring that they edged home by four runs on DLS.

When the rain returned, Durham were 175/3 after 27.2 overs, four runs ahead of the 171 set by DLS.

Marlow finished unbeaten on 76 from 79 with 10 boundaries.
