Durham Women have a chance to secure their first piece of silverware of the season when they compete in the ECB Second XI T20 Finals Day at Billericay Cricket Club in Essex tomorrow.
Danielle Hazell has named a squad of 14 as Durham head South to take on Hampshire at 10:30am in the semi-final.
Durham progressed through to finals day having finished runners up in the North Group alongside Nottinghamshire side The Blaze who topped the group, as Durham enjoyed wins over The Blaze and Lancashire.
While Hampshire and Essex finished as the top two from the South group.
A mixture of academy and senior players are in contention to feature at Billericay with six academy players travelling South, as the competition was launched this summer to give up and coming talent the opportunity to mix with senior players from within their county.
Words from Dani Hazell
Tomorrow is really important, it is an opportunity for players to put their hand up in a senior cricket competition, the girls involved are all looking forward to heading down to Essex.
The squad is a mixture of our academy girls and some of our senior girls but the younger end of our professional players just to keep giving them as much cricket opportunities as we can. It is an exciting day and a chance to make winning a habit, which is what we want to keep doing.
As we know the Blaze game was washed out on Sunday, so hopefully we can get a better forecast down in Essex tomorrow and play some good cricket at Billericay.
We have some good talent in the Academy and they will be given a chance tomorrow to perform and hopefully claim some silverware for Durham.
