Durham Women attend Northumberland Chance to Shine Finals competition at Tynemouth Cricket Club

Members of the Durham Cricket Women’s squad were in attendance at Tynemouth Cricket Club as young cricketers in North Tyneside enjoyed an afternoon of softball fun.

Northumberland Cricket Board held their Chance to Shine Girls Under 13s Finals competition with Mia Rogers, Katherine Fraser and Emily Windsor attending to offer support to the girls and present the winning team with their medals and trophies.

100 young female cricketers from across the region were in softball action as Kings Priory School beat John Spence to win the North Tyneside Trophy.

While the girl’s competition was going, Northumberland Cricket Board also hosted their boys Chance to Chine Festival with 140 cricketers taking part as Kings Priory School beat Marden Bridge Middle School in the final.

Adam Robson Northumberland, Cricket Development Officer said: “It was great to see Mia, Katherine and Emily attend our girls under 13s finals.

Having the girls along really do inspire the next generation of youngsters, and with that the girls now know there is a pathway to earn a living playing professional women’s cricket.”
