Embroidery for people over 50

We’re running free embroidery classes for people over 50 at Seat Unique Riverside.

The initiative is part of the Foundation’s “50 Not Out” project which aims to improve older people’s mental and physical wellbeing through a number of activities and social events.

The Foundation provides all materials and no previous experience is needed.

During these sessions, participants will learn about the basics of hand stitched decorative work, creating beautiful pieces using an array of stitches, leading up to appliqué work. Appliqué is a technique in which fabric patches are layered on a foundation fabric, then stitched in place by hand or machine with the raw edges turned under or covered with decorative stitching.

Our sessions are perfect for complete beginners or can enhance your experience if you already have some embroidery skills. In either case, you’ll be joining a supportive, friendly and social group.

SESSIONS:

Every Thursday at Seat Unique Riverside from 10.00am – 12.00pm

Every Friday at Seat Unique Riverside from 12.30am – 2.30pm
