Emilio Gay
Durham Cricket strengthened its batting lineup with the signature of Emilio Gay from Northamptonshire, joining on a three-year deal running until 2027.
A tall left-handed top-order batter, Gay will be available for Durham in all formats and joins with a wealth of first-class experience behind him.
The 25-year-old amassed over 2800 first-class runs for Northamptonshire since his debut in 2019 and is closing in on a tally of 1000 in white ball cricket, while he is approaching 3000 first-class runs, having played in 50 matches.
Following an injury to club captain Scott Borthwick, Gay joined Durham for the final two games of the season on loan from Northamptonshire.
He made a classy 48 on his debut against Surrey and impressed on his home bow against Kent; looking calm at the crease, he manipulated the field well to reach his maiden Durham half-century from 92 balls.
Gay enjoyed a prolific 2024 County Championship campaign, passing 1000 County Championship runs for the first time, including a mammoth career best of 261 against Middlesex.
Scoring a double hundred to kick off the 2024 season, Gay has six first-class hundreds to his name and 14 fifties.
The Bedford-born batter found his straps in List A cricket in 2022, notching 332 runs in eight games for Northamptonshire, scoring a maiden 50-over century against Lancashire at Blackpool.
He made 13 T20 appearances for the Steelbacks, posting his maiden short-format half-century against Durham at Seat Unique Riverside in 2023.
