School and Community Programme
We are committed to developing strong links with our main stream, SEND schools, and disability groups across the whole county. Our Disability School and Community Cricket Programme is aimed at providing children, young people and adults aged 7 to 17 with a great opportunity to play and learn through our table cricket and softball programmes. We can support and collaborate with teachers to encourage additional opportunities to participate.
We believe that our Disability Cricket Schools Programme has fantastic benefits and is an informal and enjoyable way for young people to develop many important life skills, make new friends, build confidence and self-esteem, and learn about concentration, communication, teamwork and cooperation.
Table Cricket
Table cricket is an adapted version of cricket that is played on a tennis table or alternative, with teams of six taking it in turn to bowl or bat. The game has been specially designed to give young people with both learning and physical disabilities access to sport and the chance to play and compete.
The benefits include improving coordination and cognitive skills, develops teamwork and social skills, understand tactics, draw the best out of team players and to build a social life.
Softball Cricket
Building on the success of our work in settings through table cricket, we now providing an enhanced programme of softball cricket.
The sessions are fun, engaging, appropriate for each group and tailor made to the needs of everyone involved. The sessions are aimed at everyone achieving by using adapted equipment to gain success. It gives the participants the basic skills to introduce them to the game and to enable them to continue their cricket journey.
