World Cup Trophy to visit Emirates Riverside

With yesterday’s announcement that Ben Stokes, Mark Wood and Paul Collingwood will be in attendance for tomorrow’s Vitality Blast opener against the Northants Steelbacks – we can now announce another special guest.

The World Cup trophy is scheduled in attendance on Friday Evening after England lifted the trophy last Saturday in a thrilling final against New Zealand.

Ben Stokes hit 84* for the hosts as they chased down 241 to force a super over – scoring a vital eight to help England to victory.

Mark Wood finished with figures of 1-49 from his 10 overs as England won the trophy for the first time.

And in their honour, the ECB are scheduled to send the trophy to the North East for the Vitality Blast opener.
