Wiseman to take up Canterbury coaching position

Wiseman, made his first class debut for Durham in 2006, will return to New Zealand at the end of this season to take up the position of Network Coach.

His main role will be to work with the 14 selected young players in the Canterbury Cricket Elite Player Development Programme. He will also assist Canterbury Wizards Coach Bob Carter and Canterbury Magicians Coach Stephen Cunis as well as having an involvement with the Canterbury B team, the Under 17 and 19 teams. He will also play a role in coach development in Canterbury.

On his departure from the North East, Paul Wiseman, said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with Durham County Cricket Club, whose success over the last few years I have been proud to be a part of.  I will leave the Club with some great memories and will continue to play whatever part I can for Durham for the remainder of the season.   I am absolutely delighted to be joining Canterbury in a coaching position and I’m really looking forward to beginning that element of my career.”

Head Coach Geoff Cook added: “Paul’s experience has been a real asset to the side and while we are sad to see him go, the opportunity he has been offered is an excellent one and we wish him the best of luck in his new role.”
