Unchanged 14 named for penultimate RL50 game at Edgbaston

Durham travel to Edgbaston tomorrow for their penultimate game in the Royal London Cup when they take on Warwickshire.

Qualification is no longer on the cards for Durham as they look to end the competition on a high starting with tomorrow’s game and then on Tuesday against Leicestershire.

Durham been involved in a number of tight contests throughout this Royal London Cup and that was repeated on Wednesday at Seat Unique Riverside against Sussex Sharks.

An unchanged 14 player squad has been named for Sunday’s clash as Scott Borthwick will lead Durham out in Birmingham.

Warwickshire have so far have had a mixed campaign and most recently lost to Middlesex on Friday by 128 runs at Radlett. Warwickshire have won 3, lost 2 and tied one game so far sitting in 5th place with 7 points.

Squad v Warwickshire (21 August)

Scott Borthwick (c), Jonathan Bushnell, Paul Coughlin, Graham Clark, Luke Doneathy, Sean Dickson, George Drissell, Oliver Gibson, Mitchell Killeen, Tom Mackintosh (wkt), Nic Maddinson, Stanley McAlindon, Chris Rushworth, Liam Trevaskis

Words from Stanley McAlindon

Sussex were 100-1 for one at one point, but the boys stuck at the task and made it close, last time out,  I’m so glad we were able to take it to the last over and we showed what Durham are about. Myself and George Drissell knew we had to add runs with the bat and we managed to take it to the end of our 50 overs, and 228 we got gave us a chance. We showed what we’re about because we dragged it back even after dropping a catch early on. It’s annoying that we could not get over the line in another close game, but we’ll take it into the next game with experience and hopefully get the win.

Match Centre
