Tom Mackintosh named in Eastern Knights squad for Scotland T20 Blitz

Durham Cricket Academy wicket-keeper batsman Tom Mackintosh has been named in the Eastern Knights squad for their T20 Blitz tournament which begins this weekend at Forfarshire Cricket Club.

Mackintosh was named in the squad after Eastern Knights this week unveiled its squad set to take on Caledonian Highlanders in two T20 matches this Sunday.

Led by captain Dylan Budge, Knights will be able to pull in experience from fellow international players such as Ali Evans, Oli Hairs and Mark Watt, alongside a number of Scotland U19 players including Mackintosh.

The T20 Blitz Regional Series is Scotland’s premier domestic competition for the most talented cricketers in the country across the men’s and women’s game. It features three teams in the men’s competition; Eastern Knights, Caledonian Highlanders and Western Warriors, and two teams in the women’s; Eagles (representing the east of Scotland) and Stormers (representing the rest of Scotland).

Shane Burger, men’s national coach, said: “I would like to thank the Regional teams and venues for helping us get some competitive cricket in the diary for the back end of the season.

“The Regional series acts as a great way to showcase the cricketing talent in Scotland and I look forward to seeing how our players go. The series will be used a selection tool for a men’s winter squad, so I urge those players taking part to grab this opportunity with both hands.”
