Tahlia Wilson joins for Metro Bank One Day Cup

Durham Cricket are delighted to announce that Tahlia Wilson will join the Club for the first half of the Metro Bank One Day Cup.

An Australian top-order batter, Wilson will join up with the Durham squad ahead of the season opener against Lancashire at Banks Homes Riverside on Saturday 11 April and remain in Chester-le-Street until mid-June.

The 26-year-old was instrumental in New South Wales lifting the 2024/25 Women’s National Cricket League, earning player of the tournament with 667 runs at an average of 55, featuring a career-best 142 against ACT Meteors.

Wilson recently earned her maiden Australia call-up for their white-ball tour of the Caribbean against the West Indies, having shown promise with the bat and gloves across all three formats for Australia A.

Closing in on 200 professional career appearances, the New South Wales vice-captain has proved a dependable run scorer in List A cricket scoring over 2,000 runs in the last four seasons whilst reaching three figures on seven occasions.

Born in New South Wales, Wilson has represented Sydney Thunder in the Women’s Big Bash League for seven years, lifting the title in 2020, having also featured for Sydney Sixers and Auckland Hearts on the franchise circuit.

On joining Durham, Tahlia Wilson said: “I’m very excited to be joining Durham this season.

“I’ve heard lots of great things about the players and staff and enjoyed watching the brand of cricket they played last season.

“I can’t wait to join up with the group soon and get going in a Durham shirt.”

Director of Cricket, Marcus North said: “We’re delighted to secure Tahlia for our Metro Bank One Day Cup campaign.

“She’s proven herself as one of the most consistent top-order players in Australian domestic cricket, and her hunger for runs is exactly what you want at the top of the innings.

“Beyond her skillset, she’s a strong character who drives standards and competitiveness within a squad. That mindset will add real value to what we’re building here at Durham.

“We’re excited to see the impact she can make during her time at the Club.”
