Sugababes and James Morrison to play at Riverside

Durham CCC’s home ground, Riverside in Chester le Street, is set in superb surroundings with Lumley Castle as a backdrop and music fans are encouraged to arrive at the ground early to build the atmosphere before enjoying an evening of soulful tracks from James Morrison or dancing the night away to pure pop courtesy of Sugababes.
Sugababes need little introduction. The UK’s most successful girl group have sold over 2 million singles, 5.5 million albums and have hit the top spot in the UK no less than 6 times.

With a spine-tingling combination of soulful vocals and sophisticated glamour, Sugababes have performed to over a million people in the last year alone and continue to wow not just pop fans but also festival crowds.

A testimony to the strength of the songs on James Morrison’s debut album Undiscovered is that it yielded no fewer than five singles – You Give Me Something, Wonderful World, The Pieces Don’t Fit Anymore, Undiscovered and One Last Chance. The songs were simple yet beautifully written, each giving James’s raw, bluesy voice a platform to work its powerful magic.

James’ second album, Songs for You, Truths For Me is a classic James Morrison record that once again showcases his distinctive, raw, soulful style – but takes it to the next level.

Durham County Cricket Club Chief Executive, David Harker, said, “Riverside has hosted some world class acts over the years including Elton John, UB40 and Jamie Cullum – to add James Morrison and Sugababes to that list is fantastic.  It’s always great to attract new audiences to the stadium, the atmosphere will be electric and I’m sure both acts will give outstanding performances for their fans.”
