Stanley McAlindon claims 3/19 in 3.4 overs as Durham pip Yorkshire in Under 18 T20

Durham Cricket boys’ under-18s are in a strong position at the top of the ECB Under 18s Group 1 table following a win over Yorkshire in their final T20 group game.

Durham taking on Yorkshire at Westwood, won the toss and elected to bat posting 151/6 from 20 overs, as Ross Whitfield top scored with 64 from 47 balls.

Having won the toss Durham didn’t get off to the best of starts losing 3 wickets for 36 runs as Charlie McMurran dismissed both of Durham’s openers in single fingers.

Charlie Coulthard (0) and Callum Gaffney (9) also fell cheaply but a 67 run stand between Ross Whitfield and Hayden Mustard took Durham to 151/6 from 20 overs.

McMurran (2/14), Thomas Currie (1/19) andLachlan Doidge (1/25) all struck for Yorkshire.

Yorkshire lost Noah Prieslty for 4 as Mitchell Killeen bagged the first Durham wicket. They added 24 for the second wicket and 27 for the third, but the home side continued to lose wickets throughout.

The home side then lost their final 5 wickets for 17 runs as Stanley Mcalindon claimed superb figures of 4/19 from 3.4 overs as Durham won by 17 runs with 2 balls to spare.

Durham not await further results to see if they qualify for finals day at Kibworth Cricket Club in Leicestershire.
