Seconds Outclassed by Yorkshire

Batting first Yorkshire made 188 with Rashid top scoring for with 85 and Brooks  contributing 37 at the end of their order.

It was a good team bowling effort from Durham restricting the visitors to a big total with Bousefield 2-20, Arshad 2-32, Main 2-29 and Morley 2-27 whilst Buckley and Jennings snared one wicket each.

In the reply, Durham struggled for consistency with the bat with Paul Coughlin (27) and Clark (21) the best with the bat in a low scoring innings. Yorkshire’s Brooks tore through the Durham line-up taking 5-40 and Patterson 3-28 as Durham were all out for 127, 61 runs behind the Yorkshire 1st innings.

With Yorkshire holding a handy lead Durham needed to start well with the ball and did just this and had the visitors 36-4.  However Yorkshire number 9 Brooks backed up his efforts with the ball to annoy the Durham attack contributing 57 and Hodd 54 to take the Yorkshire total past 200 before they were all out for 209 in the 73rd over.

Bousefield was the pick of the Durham bowlers taking 3-33 and Ryan Buckley took 2-41.

Set 270 to win Durham had a disappointing second innings with their score just making three figures.

The quality and experience of the Yorkshire attack was too much for the young Durham side as they consistently lost wickets in the chase.

Patterson stole the show with the ball for Yorkshire with a five wicket haul (5-24) and Ryan Sidebottom was also impressive with 4-42 to bowl Durham out for 105 in just the 46th over.

Poynter was the only one to pass 20 in the Durham second innings as the home side fell to a 165 runs loss.
