Durham’s Second XI dropped to a 181-run defeat on the final day of the Championship match against Nottinghamshire at Notts Sports Club.
Resuming on 331/5, the hosts added quick runs through Chris Read to declare on 409/6.
Read’s knock came in 49 balls as they set up a declaration in the morning session, leaving Durham a target of 387 to win.
And after losing early wickets in their reply, they could not hang on for a draw despite Mark Wood’s 56.
There was a brief success for Gurman Randhawa early on as Dominic Brown was stumped, though Read’s onslaught continued to take the game away from Neil Killeen’s side.
When it was Durham’s turn to bat, they were reduced to 36/3. Phil Mustard managed 40 before Brown had him caught by Will Gidman.
Wood and Usman Arshad threatened to stretch the game late into the evening, with the former scoring 56 in a 67-run partnership.
Spinner Matt Carter then trapped him lbw and another quick succession of wickets fell soon after.
Arshad’s wicket, again to Carter, all-but ended Durham’s resistance and the game was up shortly after.

Mark Wood continued his comeback with two wickets but Tom Moores scored another century to put Notts 2nd XI in control against Durham 2nd XI.
Wood struck with the first ball of the innings, bowling Sam Wood, en route to figures of 2/19 from ten overs.
Moores, chief destroyer in the Trophy game on Monday, scored his second century in three days to hand Notts the initiative.
They now lead by 308 ahead of the final day at Notts Sports Club.
Durham began the day with four wickets in hand and added 43 to take a first innings lead of 23, Usman Arshad making 37.
The new ball was thrown to Wood and he made immediate inroads, bowling his namesake with the innings’ first delivery.
However, the hosts showed more resilience than their first effort, where they dropped to 8/3, as Will’s Root and Gidman.
The latter made 41 in a second wicket partnership of 96 before Arshad removed him, while Root made 87 before Wood bowled him during his second spell.
Number four Moores showed resistance and cashed in during the latter stages of the day, scoring 18 boundaries until Gurman Randhawa claimed his first wicket.
All three results remain possible on the third day.

Sixteen wickets fell on the first day of action between Durham and Nottinghamshire in the Second XI Championship clash at Notts Sports Club.
After electing to bat first, Nottinghamshire were bowled out for 201 after recovering from 8/3 & 55/5.
The recovery was led through Tom Moores and Luke Wood before Josh Coughlin mopped up the tail, taking 3/13.
Adam Hickey led Durham’s reply with 68 as they closed 20 runs behind with four wickets in hand.
The match also signalled Mark Wood’s return to the long format after appearances in limited-overs fixtures during recent weeks.
Three quick wickets, including two lbw dismissals for Gurjit Sandhu, put the visitors immediately on the front foot in the Midlands.
Brief shoots of recovery came through the following two wickets but once Usman Arshad bowled Dominic Brown, they were once again in the mire at 55/5.
But Moores, a centurion in the limited-overs fixture on Monday, led from the front and almost doubled the score for the sixth wicket.
He became Wood’s first wicket, caught behind by Stuart Poynter, as the Durham man got through five overs.
Notts counterpart Wood then put on 74 with Kane, the highest stand of the day.
Grant then clean bowled him before Coughlin finished off the innings in quick fashion, including the wicket of Chris Read.
Durham lost Phil Mustard and Calum MacLeod early in the reply but Hickey anchored the innings, with a number of batsman contributing alongside him.
Hickey fell before the close to off-spinner Matthew Carter but Durham arguably have the upper hand ahead of the second day.
