Second XI rack up another win

Captained by Kyle Coetzer, Durham won the toss and elected to field first, they restricted the visitors to 244 in their 50 overs with trialists AJ Tye, 23, from Chester le Street CC, and Lee Whitfield, 18, from Blaydon, taking two wickets apiece.

Durham reached the target with 4.3 overs to spare with Michael Richardson remaining unbeaten on 58, Ryan Pringle scoring 40 and contributions in the thirties from Ramee Shahzad and Karl Turner.

Their one day victory comes fresh from their 10 wicket Championship win over Warwickshire last week at Mosely. 

After winning the toss and electing to bat first captain Gordon Muchall led by example, posting 129 of Durham’s first innings total of 369.  Ryan Pringle and Michael Richardson were  the other major contributor, scoring 62 and 44.

Warwickshire were bowled out for just 187 in their first innings which lasted just 53.5 overs, with Chris Rushworth taking 5-35.  With the follow on enforced the hosts recovered slightly in their second innings, scoring 291, Academy youngster Callum Harding taking the majority of the wickets, 4-85.

Rain threatened to reduce the game to a draw but the weather was on our side, allowing our second innings to commence, and the Durham openers, Kyle Coetzer (54*) and Ben Raine (41*) knocking off the runs required to pick up the win.
