Scott Borthwick: An update from Adelaide

Scott sent us the first of his updates from Oz….

“When I arrived in Adelaide on October 7th, I was feeling fresh and raring to go after a few weeks off following a long English summer. I was really looking forward to getting started at the centre.

“The first three weeks have been tough but very enjoyable. The training is five days a week and includes skills work, fitness and match situation sessions.

“The skill sessions have been in the indoor school at the Adelaide oval, which is amazing.  The sessions are based on trying to develop new skills. I have been working with leg spinner coach Peter Sleep and Darren Lehmann which I have really enjoyed and I’m looking forward to working with them over the next five months.

“The match situation sessions have been an open middle practice which is giving the training a good competitive edge, which also gives you time to develop new skills and the mental side of the game.

“The fitness programme includes two cardio session and two weights sessions a week.  There’s a lot to fit in!

“I am also playing club cricket on Saturdays for a team called Port Adelaide, but unfortunately, due to the weather on the weekends, we’ve not been able to play much cricket.

“I am working hard and looking forward to using the skills I’ve developed here to benefit Durham.”
